2016 Accord vs. 2016 Sonata in College Station

Posted by Jessica McFall Fri, May13, 2016 @ 01:03PM

Let's get you into a brand new sedan from Allen Honda! But hold your horses, we need to do a little research first. Every good decision starts with thorough look at every option. We love sedans for reasons you probably already know, but we love certain types of cars for specific reasons. Today we're giving you the low down on a couple of well-made sedans – the 2016 Accord and the 2016 Sonata in College Station!

Safety

Both the Accord and the Sonata can tout acceptable safety ratings, but the Accord has Active Head Restraints that protect the front driver and passenger from whiplash, something that the Sonata doesn't offer at all, which sets it apart. In addition to the whiplash protection, the Accord has available parking sensors and was given the top rating of "Good" in the overall evaluation for the IIHS frontal offset crash test. The Sonata does not have parking sensors, and was rated only "Acceptable" in the IIHS crash test.

Warranty and Reliability

Did you know that there are 73% more Honda dealers than there are Hyundai dealers? Getting your car serviced in your Accord is significantly more convenient than getting your Sonata would be.

The J.D. Power and Associate's survey of owners of 3-year-old cars conclude that Honda cars were ranked 5th in reliability, while the Hyundai vehicles were ranted way low on the list, at 24th.

Power and Performance

With the most basic 2016 Accord engine, you'll get 185 horsepower, which is great in the sedan market. With the Accord EX-L V6/Touring engine, you'll be riding with 278 horsepower! On the other hand, the 2016 Sonata's base engine gets only 178 horsepower, and it's top-of-the-line 2.0 turbo engine gets just 245.

Towing Capacity

Yes, you read that correctly! The 2016 Accord, still in the sedan category, has a towing capacity of 1000 pounds! No need to borrow your brother's friend's truck the next time you need to pull something <1000 pounds. This is a perk that the Sonata unfortunately does not have!

Technology Features

It's not a secret anymore that Honda just has overall better technology options and features than Hyundai. With this being the case and to save time, we're listing technology features that the 2016 Accord offers as standard that the 2016 Sonata does not come standard with:

  • Standard remote vehicle starting system
  • Windows can be controlled from the key in the outside lock cylinder or the keyless remote
  • Standard speed-sensitive windshield wipers
  • Dual-zone air conditioning
  • Automatic air conditioning
  • Rear heating and cooling vents for backseat passengers

We hope that you're now educated on your new sedan options, and we have a feeling you're probably leaning towards the 2016 Accord. As great as the Sonata in College Station is, it just doesn't hold a candle to the amazing things the Accord can do! See it for yourself today at Allen Honda!

College Station New Cars: 2016 Civic vs. 2016 Focus

Posted by Jessica McFall Tue, May10, 2016 @ 09:12PM

It's time for you to treat yourself to a brand new car! There are lots of options for College Station new cars, but only one that can meet your every need. Allen Honda is here to find out which car that will be! We've done our research and put together a comprehensive comparison of two popular cars: the 2016 Civic and the 2016 Focus. Let's go!

If your top priority is safety, then the 2016 Civic is the way to go. The Civic has tons of safety technology features that the Focus lacks, making it an overall safer vehicle to transport you and the ones you love! For instance, the Civic has speed and seat sensors that alert a smart airbag what level force to deploy depending on the size of the front passenger. The Civic also has standard whiplash protection, optional collision mitigation brakes and daytime running lights. Needless to say, when Honda engineers designed the 2016 Civic in Killeen, you and your family were top of mind.

Think your vehicle can be safe and powerful? That's right, you can have your cake and eat it too! The Civic is not only the safest on the block, but it’s also the most powerful. Going from zero to 60 in 6.6 seconds, the Civic beats out the Focus by a full 1. 5 seconds! Not to mention the engine of the Civic is a 1.5 Turbo and the Focus has a 4 cylinder.

Now let’s talk about space. A lot of people are deterred from buying a new sedan because of lack of passenger and cargo space, but you don’t have to worry about that in the new Civic. The 2016 Civic in College Station has 7.1 more cubic feet of passenger volume than the Focus has, which allows for a more comfortable ride! In addition to more passenger volume, the Civic also has 1.9 more cubic feet of trunk space so you never have to worry about having enough room in the back.

There's no doubt that out of these College Station new cars, the 2016 Honda Civic is the way to go. The Civic touts better safety features, more power and even more cargo and passenger room. Come on over to your local Honda dealer, Allen Honda, to see more!

College Station SUVs: 2016 CR-V vs. 2016 Rogue

Posted by Jessica McFall Wed, Apr27, 2016 @ 09:19PM

The weather is getting warmer, the days are getting longer, and the College Station SUVs are amazing! Shopping for a new SUV can be time consuming, and everyone at Allen Honda understands that. We'd like to help you save some of your valuable time by comparing two of the most well-known SUVs on the road today – the 2016 Honda CR-V and the 2016 Nissan Rogue. Both have a lot to offer, but which one will win your heart?

What's the point of having an SUV if you can't be the most powerful on the road? The CR-V's 2.4 DOHC 4 cylinder engine cranks out 185 horsepower, and can go from zero to 60 MPH in just 8.5 seconds! The Rouge, you ask? With only 170 horsepower, it takes a minimum of 9.1 seconds to reach 60 MPH. The CR-V proves to be mightier.

Concerning safety, one of these College Station SUVs stands out and that would be the 2016 CR-V! The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) conducts several studies for safety, including a front crash prevention system test. The CR-V's Collision Mitigation Braking System was rated "Superior" with 5-point score, while the Rogue scored only 1 point and rated as "Basic." In the NHTSA 35 MPH crash test, the CR-V took away a 5-star overall rating while the Rouge fell short with only 4-stars. This shouldn't come as a surprise considering the CR-V was a "Top Pick Plus" for safety in 2015, when the Rouge was only a standard "Top Pick" in 2015.

If you have several passengers with you the majority of the time, or even if you just like having a little extra room in your vehicle, the CR-V beats out the Rogue on this aspect, too. The CR-V has more cargo area with the rear seats folded, and even has a switch to automatically lower the rear seats! No more pushing, pulling and breaking a sweat just to get that rear seat to lower. The Rouge only has manual seat lowering, so putting that seat up and down will constantly be a feat. It's a win-win situation in the CR-V!

If you don't mind us pointing out the obvious here, we'd say that out of these two College Station SUVs, the 2016 CR-V is the better pick! We'd love to see you stop by Allen Honda to see the unbeatable CR-V in person! Stop in today and one of our helpful associates will be happy to assist!
