2016 Dodge Dart vs. 2016 Honda Civic in College Station TX

Posted by Jessica McFall Wed, Jan06, 2016 @ 07:31PM

The 2016 Honda Civic in College Station is taking over and mowing down competition like the 2016 Dodge Dart! Get to know the 2016 Civic as Allen Honda lists the ways that the Civic is unmatched to competitors. Ready, set, let's go!

Safety

The 2016 Honda Civic has a few more safety features than the 2016 Dodge Dart. For example, the Civic has vehicle speed sensors and seat sensors that alert the smart airbags in the Civic to deploy with different levels of force to protect passengers of different sizes. The Dart's airbags deploy at full force every time. The Civic also has optional Collision Mitigation Braking System and a lane departure warning system. The Dart doesn't have either of these as an option. Both vehicles have standard driver, passenger, side-impact, and side-impact head airbags.

Fuel Economy

If fuel economy and efficiency is important to you, it's safer to go with the Honda Civic in College Station. Both the Civic and Dart have 2.0 4. Cylinder/Manual transmissions in the most basic mode, but the Civic gets 27 city/40 hwy MPG while the Dart only gets 25 city/36 hwy MPG*. In addition to better fuel efficiency, the Civic doesn't require premium gas like the Dart, which can save you 20-55 cents/gallon.

Passenger and Cargo Space

Worried about space in a "compact car"? The Civic doesn't feel so compact with 39.3 inches of headroom in the front, and 37.1 in the rear seating area! Holding 5 passengers, the Civic has 97.8 cubic feet of cargo room and 15.1 cubic feet of cargo room. The Dart only has 13.1 cubic feet of cargo capacity, and its passenger volume is unlisted (which we can only assume means that it doesn't compare).

Misc. Features

We've said it before and we'll say it again – not all cars are created equal even if they are the same model year! In this case, the Civic is way ahead of the game in terms of technology and features. The Civic has front power-windows, standards power locks (which the Dart has, but costs extra), standard power remote mirrors, standard Bluetooth wireless, standard HondaLink, available front heated seats, and so much more.

Convinced yet? Make your way over to College Station's Honda Dealership, Allen Honda, for the one-of-a-kind Honda Civic in College Station! Schedule your test drive today!

2016 Honda Accord vs. 2016 Nissan Altima in College Station

Posted by Jessica McFall Wed, Dec16, 2015 @ 09:26PM

We're guessing that you found yourself here on the Allen Honda blog because you are checking out options for a new car! 2016 is a huge model year for new cars and you're making the right decision by checking out new 2016 sedans! Let's compare the 2016 Honda Accord and the 2016 Nissan Altima in College Station to see how each measures up.

You want to buy a car that is safe on the road, right? Although both sedans are safe, the 2016 Honda Accord has much better safety ratings. In the IIHS 40 MPG small overlap frontal offset crash test, the 2016 Accord had an overall "Good" evaluation and a "Good" rating for the lower leg evaluation. Meanwhile, the 2016 Altima had an overall "Acceptable" evaluation and a "Poor" lower leg evaluation. Also, the Accord was recognized by IIHS as a 2015 "Top Pick Plus." The Altima? It was only a standard "Top Pick" and did not receive the highest score.

You'll also have a smoother ride in the 2016 Accord. The Accord has standard front and rear gas-charged shocks for better control over choppy roads. The Altima doesn't offer this. The Altima also doesn't offer the Accord's drift compensation steering automatically switches to adjust to dangerous road conditions, which is something that could really come in handy this season!

If safety and a smooth ride are important to you but you're more interested in the features, the 2016 Honda Accord beats the Altima in cool built-ins. With the Accord EX-L Touring, you'll have memory seats that are activated with one touch of your keyless remote! For those rainy days, the Accord has standard windshield wipers that turn on and off according to the amount of rainfall, this is not available in the 2016 Altima. Lastly, although both sedans offer front heated seats, the Accord Touring has standard heated rear seats for those passengers in the back. No one is ever uncomfortable in the 2016 Honda Accord!

If we had to give you our recommendation, it would definitely be the 2016 Honda Accord over the 2016 Nissan Altima in College Station. The Accord just has it all, and more! If you're with us on this one, stop by Allen Honda for a test drive soon!

SUVs in College Station: 2015 Toyota Highlander vs. 2016 Honda Pilot

Posted by Jessica McFall Fri, Dec04, 2015 @ 02:31PM

'Tis the season… to buy a new SUV! And lucky for you, not only does Allen Honda have everything you could want, but we know our facts, too. This week we are comparing two rival SUVs in College station: the 2015 Toyota Highlander and the 2016 Honda Pilot.

The Honda Pilot is more than just spacious - it's accommodating. It has 8 more cubic feet of passenger space than the Highlander does, so not only will your passengers be comfortable, but also you can fit an entire additional person. And, with the second seat folded, the Pilot has 109 cubic feet of space while the Highlander only has 83.7 cubic feet. That's a 25.3 cubic foot difference! Need even more space? The Highlander can tow up to 1,500 pounds and the Pilot can tow a whopping 3,500!

The Highlander and the Pilot have similar safety features that include driver and passenger airbags, side-impact head airbags and four-wheel antilock breaks, just to name a few. However, the Pilot Touring/Elite has standard Parking Sensors to warn driver of obstacles that they might not immediately recognize, which makes it stand out in terms of safety.

In addition to more superior safety features, the Pilot also gets better fuel efficiency than the Highlander. The Pilot has an engine control system that shuts half of the engine's cylinders down to increase efficiency, and turns the engine off when you're stopped in traffic to save fuel and reduce pollution. The Highlander doesn't have this engine control system.

It's obvious that the 2016 Honda Pilot is unmatched next to the 2015 Toyota Highlander as far as SUVs in College Station go! Can you see yourself as the Pilot of the 2016 Pilot? We'll be happy to let you take it for a spin at Allen Honda!

2015 Honda CR-V vs. 2015 Nissan Rogue in College Station TX

Posted by Jessica McFall Mon, Nov30, 2015 @ 02:45AM

It's a great time to be buying a new vehicle, especially if that vehicle is a compact SUV. You really can't go wrong with any compact SUV, but no one likes to settle. Even with so many fantastic options out right now, research is important to conduct prior to making a new car decision! But no need to stress, Allen Honda gives you the up-close and personal details that you should consider! Today, we're checking out the 2015 Honda CR-V and the 2015 Nissan Rogue in College Station.

You shouldn't buy a car without top-of-the-line safety, so let's start with the safety ratings of both vehicles. After the NHTSA front crash test, the CR-V left with an overall 4-star rating, and the Rogue only received 3-stars. In the same test, the CR-V received 5-stars for the driver and 4-stars for the front passenger while the Rogue received 3-stars for the driver and a lowly 2-star rating for the front passenger. In the NHTSA side impact test, both vehicles received a 5-star rating overall. Because of it's near-perfect safety ratings, the CR-V was granted a "Top Pick Plus" by the IIHS for 2015 while the Rogue was just named a "Top Pick" for 2015.

In addition to being a "Top Pick Plus" for safety, the Honda CR-V is known for its reliability standards. Consumer Reports predicts that the CR-V will be 22% more reliable than the Rogue. And, did you know that Honda is ranked 8th in initial quality while Nissan is ranked 19th? That's a pretty big gap!

If you're into the engine performance, the 2015 CR-V has the 2015 Rogue beat on that, too. The CR-V's 2.4 DOHC 4 cylinder produces 15 more horsepower than the Rogue's 2.5 DOHC 4 cylinder engine. This could contribute to the CR-V going zero to 60 MPG in just 8.5 seconds! (Compared to the Rogue’s 9.1 seconds.) Despite the quicker performance, the fuel economy is just about the same between both the CR-V and the Rogue. According to the EPA, the 2015 Honda CR-V gets 27 city/34 hwy* while the 2015 Nissan Rogue in College Station gets 26 city/33 hwy*.

Lastly, both crossovers are fairly equal when it comes to the fun extras. You'll enjoy standard Bluetooth wireless, an audio system with color display screen, back-up camera and keyless remote entry/vehicle start in either the CR-V or the Rogue! One cool feature that Honda offers that Nissan doesn't is Honda HD Digital Traffic that alerts you of current traffic conditions and guides you the quickest and least congested way.

Sold on the 2015 Honda CR-V? We sure are! The 2015 Nissan Rogue in College Station just doesn't stand a chance next to this all-star compact SUV! Agree with us? Come see it in person at Allen Honda today!

Crossovers in College Station TX: 2016 Honda Fit vs. 2015 Nissan Versa Note

Posted by Jessica McFall Thu, Nov05, 2015 @ 09:06PM

We're so glad you found the Allen Honda blog, and you will be glad too! We're notorious for consistently giving the in-depth details about the latest and greatest cars, and today's blog post is no exception. We're going to do a side-by-side comparison of two incredible crossovers in College Station, TX: the 2016 Honda Fit and the 2015 Nissan Versa Note.

Crossovers aren't generally known for their safety ratings, but the Fit sets a whole new crossover safety standard. Receiving 5 stars overall in the NHTSA front crash test, its one of the safest crossovers on the market. Comparatively, the Versa Note only received 3 stars overall making it 40% less safe than the Fit. The Honda Fit was also named a "Top Pick" by IIHS, but we can't say the same for the Versa Note.

Safety isn't the only way the Fit beats out the Versa Note, it trumps it in reliability, too. J.D. Power and Associates conduct an Initial Quality Study every year and survey new car owners. In that study, Honda was ranked 14th in initial quality while Nissan ranked way below industry average at 20th.

If you're into powerful vehicles, you're better off going with the 2016 Honda Fit, as it goes from zero to 60 in just 9.1 seconds. The Versa Note is an entire 1.2 seconds behind, going from zero to 60 in 10.3 seconds. This could be due to the Fit's greater horsepower (130 vs. 109) and the standard 6-speed manual transmission (Versa Note only has 5-speed available).

Do you like saving money while saving the environment? You can do both with the 2016 Honda Fit! The Fit gets 33 MPG in the city and a whopping 41 MPG on the highway*. The Versa Note? It gets 31 MPG in the city and 40 MPG on the highway*. You know that every mile counts!

It’s obvious that the Fit really outshines the Versa Note when it comes to crossovers in College Station TX. The Fit also offers features that the Versa Note doesn't, like a remote vehicle starting system, telescoping steering wheel, standard power windows and standard rear heat vents. So don't wait any longer, come try out the 2016 Fit at Allen Honda today!
